William Philip Edmunds (November 29, 1885 – April 1977) was an American football player, coach of football and basketball, college athletics administrator, and medical doctor. He played college football at the University of Michigan from 1908 to 1910. He was the head football coach at West Virginia University (1912), Washington University in St. Louis (1913–1916), and the University of Vermont (1919), compiling a career college football coach record of 19–22–2. Edmunds was also the head basketball coach at Washington University for on season in 1913–14, tallying a mark of 7–6. ==Early years== Edmunds was born in Middlesex Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania in November 1885. His parents, David and Eliza Edmunds, were immigrants from Wales. At the time of the 1900 United States Census, the family was living in Youngstown, Ohio.〔Census entry for David Edmonds and family.
